5 Gentle Reminders Every First-Gen Latina Needs to Hear

  1. Slow down... don’t be in such a rush.
If you’re anything like me, there are moments when you feel like you need to accomplish all your goals, get your life “together,” and check off everything on your to-do list—immediately. But why? You don’t have to prove yourself or your worthiness to anyone. You’re not in competition with anyone. When you rush to get to the “good” parts, you end up missing the beautiful, meaningful parts happening right now. This is the good time.

  2. Stop dimming your light.
You were meant to take up space. You are not “too much.” You are not doing too much. Being who you truly are will naturally align you with the people meant for you. Be yourself, baby. You’re amazing just as you are.

  3. It’s okay to be cringy.
I don’t care what anyone says (even when it’s my own thoughts). It’s okay to be cringy. Post the picture. Share your story. Try something new. Start that YouTube channel. Don’t deprive yourself of something you’ve always wanted to do out of fear of judgment or ridicule. So what? It only affects you if you let it. I know it’s easier said than done, but the payoff? So worth it. Go for it. Do the thing.

  4. You can always just... pivot.
If something didn’t work out the way you hoped, you can pivot—your approach, your mindset, even your goal. You’re not stuck. You’re not required to “thug it out” if your heart’s not in it anymore. Shifting is strength.

  5. I’m proud of you.
I’m proud of you for wanting better and doing better. I’m proud of you for pushing through the hard stuff. I hope whoever is reading this gets to experience softness, calm, and peace. You’re doing so much better than you think. Offer yourself the same kindness you give so freely to others. You’re a light in this world. Thank you. ❤️
